Dr. Shivani Mehta is a wife, mother to two beautiful children, a pediatrician, a passionate advocate for children, a realistic optimist, and a wannabe vegetarian chef who loves to experiment in the kitchen.

Dr. Mehta is an accomplished general academic pediatrician with an extensive resume of engagement both within and among the physician community. She completed her pediatric residency at Carolinas Medical Center in 2011, earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, and received her MPH at Harvard School of Public Health, focusing on community and family health. In addition to seeing patients and teaching at the clinic, Dr. Mehta is engaged in various hospital system-based and community-based advocacy projects that focus on child health.

Dr. Mehta currently serves on the Board of Communities in Schools (CIS) Charlotte, alongside her friend and co-host Jon Davis, and supports their program evaluation committee, branding & marketing committee, and has facilitated a direct referral program from her clinic to various CIS programs. She also serves on the Board of Smart Start of Mecklenburg County, and is a committee member on their community investment committee and The Basics Advisory Committee.

Dr. Mehta has previously served on the Board of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society and continues to sit on their Child Health Committee. Dr. Mehta is formerly the Education Workgroup Chair, and now the Clinical Implementation Workgroup Chair of the Carolinas Collaborative, a coalition thru the American Academy of Pediatrics, whose current focus is to address food insecurity and other social determinants of health. Dr. Mehta is a champion for all things related to the improvement of children’s lives.
